Studies and analyses within the framework of the TRAMASS project

The TRAMASS project is aimed at professionals in the field of linguistics, communication and health, as well as institutions, NGOs and associations working with migrant communities, promoting inclusive communication and multilingualism. It is also aimed at researchers and academics interested in these fields of study.

The main objective of the project is to develop strategies for transcreation and linguistic and cultural adaptation of health materials in order to create a protocol which ensures equitable, inclusive and efficient access to health information and health services for migrant communities. TRAMASS focuses on overcoming linguistic, cultural and information access barriers that migrant communities from West-Central Africa in Spain have to face. The studies and analyses carried out cover several key aspects related to linguistic and cultural inclusion in the field of health.

1. To identify the health information needs of migrant communities from West-Central Africa living in Spain.

2. To determine the linguistic and cultural adaptation strategies that have been implemented in Spain over the last decade to facilitate access to health information and services for these communities in English and French.

3. To identify the role of transcreation as well as its strategies and processes in the adaptation of health information materials and resources, and to define the role of the agents involved in the process.

4. To apply transcreation strategies to materials and resources adapted to migrant communities from West-Central Africa in English and French to be implemented in the care of migrant people, applying an inclusive approach from different points of view, such as gender studies or the access to culture and literacy.

5. To transfer the transcreated materials to NGOs and associations in collaboration with migrant communities so they can implement them in different interventions.

6. To evaluate, through reception studies, the reception and impact of the transcreated materials and resources on the final recipients.

7. To develop, together with the agents involved (health professionals, patients and social workers) a protocol of good practices in the transcreation of information materials and resources for migrant populations, including inter- and intra-lingual strategies.
